I'm toying with the idea of cuying this armrest http://www.roadstersolutions.com/page67.html

On the advert is says "NOTE: If you Z4 does not have a "U" shaped pad behind the e-brake leather boot this will complicate installation."

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question but what is the U shaped pad? Or is it just an american phrase. I'm in a 2008 Z4

Thanks

p.s - i think the wind defloector is cool :)

Its just the pad that is there already...it's U shaped?

It called the armrest, and not all Z4's have them 2.0 SE's do not from Memory, not sure what else.

I'd drive it a bit more before you buy. Though the company is excellent as are its products but I'm always wary of just slotting extra bits on for the hell of it until you find you really need some extra there. IIRC some have fitted them and felt it raised the arm too much.

The deflector is great. I have the OEM mesh, but would prefer the clear plastic version you reference

I like the Z4 pack....

"The Z4-Pack adds valuable storage space and has been specifically designed to fit your in your Z4 roadster"

Hangs in front of the storage space that is already there!

When I'm using my Z, my elbow naturally sits right on the edge of the padded u-shaped arm-rest.

The two aftermarket arm-rests I've seen seem to be the same shape, only a bit thicker. Is there anyone who does one that is wider and possibly curves over the edges of the console a bit more? Otherwise it's sewing machine, scissors & alcantara time - and you really don't want to see the mess I made last time

Where do you guys buy your accessories from apart from BMW direct (UK) any websites? Trying to find an equivelant armrest on a UK site.

The OEM U Shaped pad (Armrest) will not fit your car if you dont already have one, the cenre console trim (Aluminium panel) is shaped differently.

Don't know why I didn't reply to this originally but I do have the U shaped OEM armrest - so does anyone know if you can get the improved version in the UK?
