Where is the negative terminal?

Cheers PVR.

I was assuming I HAD to connect the thing to the battery itself. Ideal if I can just use those two terminals under the bonnet

In the BMW manual, it actually states that charging should be done from the terminals, and not the battery.

You're right.
For future reference for everyone, it is on page 89 of the user manual.

Thanks again guys

Any idea if it's possible to charge direct to the battery as my car is in the garage with the boot nearest the garage door so i don;t have easy access to the bonnet. Just wondered if mine does go flat can i charge direct to the battery or if there is an earthing point on the boot for the negative cable?

urgent help needed:

i wanted to recharge my battery, but i didn't read the manual, and disconnected the '-' from the battery. This triggered the alarm, so i reconnected it again.

I have now connected the trickle charger to the two terminals, but the charger will only charge at 6V! It doesn't recognize the battery as being 12V. Is this because of the disconnecting of the battery?
