Where is the engine block drain bolt on my 2007 3.0i?

doing a thorough cooling system drain and re-fill. I have read that the block drain is a 13mm bolts on the passenger (US) side of the block under #2 cylinder header. Got under there with a flashlight,.....can't see much of the block, or ANY of the exhaust header. the view is blocked by the water pump, thermostat, steering rack and various other bits. I am doing this on some low ramps in my driveway,.....not on a lift.

It is only necessary to remove the drain plug when changing the coolant on a M54 engine. Yours will be an N52 engine. Removing the drain plug is not necessary. In fact, I’m not even sure it has one.

What’s your source? Look for TIS as that’s the BMW workshop manual.
If you have an N52 engine then there is no drain plug, you simply release the lower radiator hose and you can remove the radiator screw to get some more out. It will drain most of the system, which isn’t a problem if you’re doing it every 2 years.
If you want to clean and or flush then simply refill and run the electric pump to circulate. Then drain and either run plain water through again if you’ve used a flush, or refill and bleed.
Make sure you use the correct coolant spec, either BMW or a G48 alternative, nothing generic.
