Where is engine mapping stored?

Since replacing the ABS on my car from the original 2009 version to the 2nd hand replacement from 2014 23i, same model as my car, the car seems to run better, acceleration seems brisker.
It didn't need programming, the car just accepted no problem.
Wondering if any engine mapping is stored on the abs.
End of the day it has a big connector with lots of wires, they all do something.

I guess BMW could tweak how the abs interacts with car handling, might be different on later cars.
Still have hill assist.
Or a fault could be dabbing the discs slowing the car.
