Where in the world...?

HK would be high on my list. It's somewhere I want to visit. There's a good chance I could do this with work though, so I'd simply take a few days holiday while there and explore.

I'd do it like a shot...Mrs Lozzer might take a bit of persuasion. She's a flag-waving Welshie

if your into photography Hong Kong is the place for dslr cameras apparently very cheap.

I also read there is no import tax on dslr coming back into the country, you do need to pay vat however

Yeah the photography aspect is a plus...got a Sony Nex-7 last month so would like to use it on something different. Was skypeing my best mate who ditched the uk for Perth last year so might visit him in December and roll holiday trough to January and take in hk/spore on the way back ... Going to be a productive day at work :?

That sounds a great trip, especially catching up with old friends.

Thailand without a doubt for a type of trip you describe.
I did bangkok, ko sami and Koh Phangan all on my lonesome on the return leg from a work trip to melbourne and singapore.

Thailand is great as there is SO much to see and do and you meet new people all the time. First time i travelled for 10 days alone and would do it again if the situation presented itself.

Flying back into Changi airport in my "backpack" clothes and then boarding Emirates 777-300ER in business was funny - well the look on the stewards face was until they greeted me and said "where did the suit go?" :)

my dream is Thailand, Vietnam, Laos & Cambodia

done Thailand and Cambodia but only for 2 weeks

Thailand defiantly!

I did 6 months there in 2004, although it was 90 baht to the pound then, only 48 baht now :o
