Where do we stand on ditching runflats with breakdown cover?

If a car isn't fitted with a spare wheel as standard I know breakdown companies will still come out for flat tyres etc. but my concern is with having the standard run flats removed are they likely to kick up a fuss? Just a thought

Well I have just driven for 6 years with no spare and non run flat tyres OEM from Ford.
200k miles in 2x Ford Smax. I've had no problems

Can't see why they would. How are they to know if the car was fitted with or without run flats? You can spec a BMW without run flats now. The M versions no longer come with Run flats so I assume this is the assumption that all BMWs come with run flats which is incorrect. When I had my first car, a mini if you went for 15 inch alloys standard tyres with a compressor and gunk then 16 inch alloys fitted with run flats but if you bought wheels from BMW after you bought the car you could state the tyre to be fitted, just like any other garage.

So no, there should be no fuss made

Ok, so I had a bad blow out last year on the M20.

I told them tyre was a write off and the tyre weld I carried in the boot was of no use - flat bed lorry called, no issue - cover provided by AXA insurance & have heard no complaints to-date

Just make sure you take out the cover before you get a puncher, i had to pay something like £150 :headbang: to join buy the roadside
