where can I take the gf for new years eve?

As someone else has said, you'll struggle to get a reservation in most decent places now... How about having a night in but pulling out all the stops? Look up some recipes online, buy top notch ingredients and cook for her from scratch. Three courses of things you know she loves. Buy some nice dinnerware and dress the table different to normal with a few candles. Get a few bottles of champagne (or prosecco if on a budget) in the fridge then surprise her after dinner by saying you've to sit down together with pen, paper and few glasses of bubbly and list all the fun stuff you both want to do together during 2014. Then you can stick it on the fridge as a reminder for the year ahead. Much more romantic and meaningful than an overpriced NYE night out in some packed bar or restaurant...

This sounds nice.
I was going to suggest something similar maybe with getting some real nice food from selfridges food hall, things she likes and some exotic stuff too, then doing a tapas style thing with extra candlelight in the room and champagne obviously.

got food and champange from selfridges, plenty of candles, nicely set table, picked up a large photo frame up which has 2 photo sections with a white board section below,stuck 2 photos in it and we wrote stuff we wanted to do in 2014 on it and then we set some fireworks off.

we also roasted some mashmellows over a candle each :rofl:


worked out alot cheaper then going out, but the food from selfridges was extortionate to say the least.
 
Soo romantic and lovely! The picture frame with a whiteboard beneath is a brill idea, never heard of one of those before. Hope she enjoyed the eve.

No tbh I did offer but she only likes the plain one with the cheese base thing, they obv weren't their best efforts. She had half a gateau to make up for it tho :o
