When was it?

Just one of a few different spellings Ron.
Think it's spelt Kiev,Kyiv or Kyiev.
Maybe to do with Russian and Ukrainian differences in spelling?

Still looks like Putin is either set to invade,Or is just posturing his show if strength,to see if he can split Nato Alliance countries apart.which has worked to a certain extent... given Germany and France want to sit back and not committ to troops etc like the UK and USA have.
Not surprisingly, especially as Germany relies on Russian gas for 55% of its supply, and have ongoing trade deals for a New, additional pipeline, which would cut out the Ukraine, giving them no profit from it.
No surprise, given the new German coalition government is still heavily influenced by Merkel's party, and she herself was from Russian Eastern Germany.
Politics,got to love it,
All the while,Putin wants to kill tens of Thousands of Ukrainian forces and take over the country, forcing it back under Russian rule.
Twat,lol

In Cyrillic script Київ is how its known in Ukrainian and its Киев in Russian because of the translation difference between that and our Roman alphabet it isnt precise and can be spelt any of the following ways for us: Kyiv, Kiev, Kyyiv or Kiyev. While under Soviet control the west typically called it Kiev however in 1995 the Ukrainian government officially/legally identified it as Kyiv.

As for the hilariously uninformed geopolitical hot takes in the thread.... just

When was it that Kiev became Kyiv and who made the change?
AFAIK Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine; Kiev has garlic butter inside it.
