From when do you think the savings of going to a BMW indy for a service would out weight the drop in re-sale value?

I'm rapidly starting to dislike the customer service and general attitude of BMW dealerships.

If it wern't for my warranty (and intention to extend again due to potential astronomical repair cost of a blown engine (seen some scary figures) to even simple things mounting up over a year) I'd be at a proper independent wit mine already. In the past I've only ever gone with independents (Notably PSi Tuning in Stoke-on-Trent) for customer service, attitude to all requests for work at any time request, and general confidence that they actually know what they're doing!

I think if I keep my M coup long term, and it remains a daily driver I'll probably look to mix stamps, with BMW service for major inspection checks, and an independent for more regular oil/filter services (something which I'd prefer to do for my car, regardless of people viewing FMBWSH as a pre-requisit for purchase!)

How about from year 1... Mine had its first service earlier in the yr - and i took it to an independent instead of BMW. My local BMW dealership is pretty hopeless, and the independent were very nice to me when i wanted to get it reprogrammed on their autologic.
