When to replace your clutch...

Hi there,

I was just wondering what sort if mileages do you get from a Z4M clutch? I know it's a bit of a how long is a piece of string question but in the time I've had it's led a pampered life (no track days and the odd 'spirited' drives) and serviced religiously. Now at 70k

So when do you think the clutch is up for replacement? And how much to replace it?

Cheers for any info

96k?

Sir I salute you! You've just made my day. It feels fine apart from the bite point seeming a bit close to the carpet :)

Cheers for info :)

yep 96500+ a few problems but they are not really age related and the clutch is the least of my worries lol! on the plus side she pulls like a train and sounds amazing!

Mine's on 97k and it's original clutch - and that includes a few trackdays, about 10 'Ring trips and plenty of Welsh hoons.

I suppose the fact that I'm a driving god doing perfect changes (and some clutchless ones just to keep up the skill) is what's made it last so long

FWIW, my bite point is about half way through the pedal travel.

Mine was replaced at 11k... It started slipping. It's done very well.... And dealt with 65% more power... .. Very impressive item.

I know its not an m but my old e85 2.5 had done 130k on original clutch. My gfs mum has it now and it feels close to needing a new one but still is impressive.

Replaced mine at the start of the month as it just started slipping.

First replacement in 116k miles.

Had to change the original dual-mass flywheel as well tho, as it was falling apart!

Forget about replacing clutches until they need doing evidenced by slipping. Replacement is purely based upon mileage and how driven, except the odd times oil leaks wreck them.

If you have the gearbox off for any reason change it then.
