When looking for my Zed, I almost bought a.........

I almost bought a 59 reg fiesta TDCi before I realised that if you're only going to have a car that you drive on long road trips and at the weekends, it needs to have two seats and go fast. :D

There was no other! Since I sat in a Z in 2004 I had to have one! I was 19 then and couldn't afford the £35k price tag

Wanted a zed since the first one came out (I'm 25 now), and as soon as the coupe was lanuched it was the car I always wanted.

If I hadn't got the coupe it would have been (and nearly was) an E89...

If not a zed then a slightly more practical 320d coupe...

But always wanted a BMW, so that bit was certain

I hadn't even thought about the Z4 when I decided to get something quicker than my MX5
My first choice was a Boxster until I read about the reliability issues
I road tested a Sykyline 350GT auto , (4 seat 350z) , smoothest car I have ever driven and then I checked up on the running costs ( average 17mpg) :o
I then took a 330ci convertible out straight after but it felt like the QE2 compared to the Skyline
A few days later I saw the Z in a local garage and although a Z had never entered the equation I thought it looked good with its full aero kit and upgraded lights so I decided to take it for a :driving: just for a jolly .After half a mile I took it back and paid a deposit because it gave me such a :D

Before my first z4 I was looking for another s2000 after I had written the last one of. Then before buying my ///M I was looking at 987 3.4s boxsters. Just couldn't get the amount of options I wanted for the money with the Porsche.

Prices of older 986 boxsters now are LOW!!! Seriously go check pistonheads! Even factoring the possible reliability issues it's a mega bargain. Still might go there one day. :)

After only 1 year and £2500 in depreciation in this :( ...

I just couldnt take the blandness anymore and wanted something more focussed and started looking at S2000's and 986 Boxsters, near enough straight swap money wise, but then decided i really didnt want a convertible :fuelfire: and had always loved the Z4 coupe but money was an issue, then i thought you only live once and raided the savings a little (read a LOT) more than i wanted but i'm sooo glad i did :D

Worth every penny :D

RubyBlueZ4MC, micz4, Cheers guys  can you tell im really pleased with the shot

Went out with my new camera to take some pics somewhere specific, but on the way noticed that sunset sky and pulled over into the layby on a nearby hill, crossed the road, zoomed in and snapped a few shots on various different modes and settings and this was my fav :)

Looking to replace my brilliant MX5  I purchased a TVR Chimeara - fast, great looks and a fabulous soundtrack but two sleepless nights over running costs and reliability and it had to be returned :( Test drove an S2000 had great expectations and was disappointed - though to be fair I should have tried a bog standard one as this had been modified :( Went to see an early Porche Boxster - lovely but concerns over early Porche engines put me off. :( Didn't like the looks of the newer MXs :(

Then went into a dealers with a friend who had business there and saw it....gleaming under the strip lights with it's roof down - low, long nose, short upturned tail, all leather - I fell head over heels in love! Had two road tests - my wife loved it - I was hesitant - would it fit our needs - was this another TVR? The looks and quality won and the fact that I could trade in a motorcycle. Having joined this forum I'm sure I could have done slightly better as the car was expensive BUT we love it! Every trip is an event. It makes me smile just by owning it and having it parked on the drive and I can't believe anything so good looking is this affordable. It's been a terrific car! :D :D

I wanted an e46 M3, but the insurance was like £2500! Probably because there are thousands and now quite cheap easy to get hold of and fast. I was 23 at the time. Really never thought about the Z roadster as I never warmed to them. But the coupe ppwwwooorrre! So thought I'd give the insurance a go and it was just over £1000 which was more in the ball park.

Also went and test drove a 996 C4S because i am desperate to get a 911 at some point! Same insurance as the Z but it was 4 years older and 5k more expensive and the kit was old and wanted a newer car with a good warranty.

So the search was on! looked at the 3.0si and just wasn't as special in any way compared to the M. Was a hard search there were only 3 for sale in the period i looked, one funnily enough turned up at my local garage. Went for a test drive and signed the dotted line 3 weeks later!

The rest is history :D

I was looking at a second hand 911 but could not convince myself. I was concerned that buying a second hand car with 1 year warranty and being 3 years old could be a lot more expensive in the long term.

I think you're right to be concerned, if the car was found to have had over-revs in the past the warranty is void, and also ex demo cars have all been thrashed during the running in period.

I think a second hand purchase of any 911 is very risky, unless you know the owner/s :)

E46 M3, RX8, S2000, Mazda 3 MPS, R32, (test drove all but the M3) plumped for the 3.0i Z4....Then realised I made a slight mistake by buying the floppy top version so wanted a Coupe and thought to myself I wouldn't be happy unless it was an M, and here we are :) BEST car I've ever owned!

Well we'd had the S2000 for 4 years (a record for Rach) and wanted a change, so went and sat in the SLK and that was enough to NOT want a test drive. Then we sat in an E89 and did want a test drive then we test drove a Boxster S and made an offer on it immediatly. Thing is the guy didn't want to move on price and I figured he was £2k over what it was worth. We then test drove a 2.3i then got back to the dealership and said what have you got with a bit more power.............................so 35i it was/

I was searching for a TVR Chimera and went to see a few and trying to convince myself I would not mind having to maintain it a lot and worring about outrigger corrosion, finally realizing I was too tall and a creaky back eventually decided to make me look elsewhere :D the rest as they say is history :driving:
