We have a lease vehicle ending our term in the next 6 months so I've been looking at what to replace it with as a 3rd car and had the zed with me at a very small indoor dealership that deals with a lot of custom and higher end cars and saw they had an 08 carrera 911s in. I took it for a spin needing something with a back seat for the kiddo and honestly really liked the car.

When I came back from the test drive and we started talking cars they straight up offered me 10k USD for my zed, which when I got there parked it next to a z3 that they just acquired on trade. As we started talking and it was coming down to a hand shake on it in the conversation I just couldn't do it. He told me straight up they'd be trying to get 15 for it which is what M roadys are going for around now at the mileage, knowing how much work has been done to it. With bonuses I'm getting within the next 6 months I'll have 15k to put down on what I get next anyway and with the labor of love pain sweat and tears this car has been for me I just can't bring myself to part with it even if there was any chance in hell of getting more for it I'm just that crazy mad in love with the car after almost 10 years with it.
 
What did you think of the 997? Was it a manual or tiptronic?

I’m currently daily driving a grey 997 and it’s a fantastic car. Very very nice to drive, smooth, handles nice, just feels a very stable car.

It was a tiptronic. I honestly liked it a lot for what it was and what I'm planning on using it for as a daily as well being a mix of driving and roads along with the Mrs. feeling comfortable driving it. This was the first Porsche I've driven but I have ridden in a buddy's GT4 before. It might just be me, and me needing some seat time in the 997 but I felt like our auto boxes in the zed feels smoother and quicker response in shift changes and more responsive with our sport button pushed manually shifting, as well my zed does feel faster but also for what grief our steering gets, granted just in the first week of poly lolly pops the response in the zed I like better.
For me the 997 isn't going to be pushed as hard as my zed is, and I can say left foot braking is more comfortable in the zed being the brake pedal is wider rather than similar smaller size in what a manual car will have that was in the 997. I thoroughly loved the increase visibility in the 997 that it just feels like there are no blind spots to it, a very rare thing in this day and age. One reason we're deciding not to continue our lease there just are way too many blind spots to ignore.

But all n all I really liked it and believe I'm going to pursue it, even if I have to wait a little for the bonuses to all come in. It's just not something that'll ever replace my zed :wink: and (cough) few weeks back I had to test drive a new supra :rofl:
