When do people have Inspection I?

I know from the posts on board computer decides when the oil service/inspection should be done but I'm kinda puzzled as to when this should happen. Mine is 07 reg with 13500 miles and the next service is oil in 4500 miles. Not had Inspection I yet.

Should I wait for my Zed to tell me? Or is this something that should be done soon??? Some idea of when people's inspection were done would be appreciated too

Has it had an oil service yet, should be stamped in you service book. Then your next one will be an inspection assuming its had an oil service.

The order is: Oil > Inspection 1 > Oil > Inspection 2. The miles between services should be around 16,000.

Thanks for the response. I haven't got the book on me (I leave it in the boot  ) but I dont think it had the oil service yet - by the time it has it it'll be near 3 years old and 18k on the clock.

Sounds a bit old to me......

My Inspection 1 was not until August of this year on a June 04 car at 19.5k but had oil changed according to the service booklet at 6.5k in July 06 then i changed it in June 08 after buying the car Jan 08

Yeah, I thought about paying the stealers to get it done - except I've got the service pack which I think includes inspection service (or I hope it does), and I'm sure stealers wont do it before its due.

You haven't had it that long, better check with the dealers. Service pack will of course cover servicing.

As ksher says above or every two years whichever is sooner, dont forget brake fluid every 2 years and coolant every 4 as well.

had my first oil service @ 18k whick was 1k short of indicated service but 2 years were up, so brake flud as well, inspec 1 will be @ 4 years as I'm only doing 6k a year now so will be around 30k

Thanks guys! srhutch's explanation made it clear - looks like I should have had the oil service already. Will have to look at the book tomorrow

Looks like you may have voided your warranty to some degree, but your dealer should have written to you (if bought from main dealer). As an 07 yes should have been done by now though. Have a phone around, I called my three nearest dealers and got the closest to price match costing £289 for Oil + Brake service (seems to be more expensive in the south east :x )

If that is the correct order I would like to thank BMW for completely cocking up my service history, mine's gone @15.5K Oil 1, @ 33K Oil 2 (with brake fluid), and @50K Inspection 1, all services have been to the service indicator and within 2 years plus a couple of extra oil changes.

I think coolant is no longer required to change every 4 years (at least for facelift models) according to BMW TIS.

Ksher be good if you are right, I did read on another post about BMW using lifetime coolant, mines not due for a year, and hoping to have my ///M by then :D

Even M cars do not require coolant change (save £150).
