Bit of an odd request gents but here goes. I'm looking to get my 108's refurbed but I need a set to stick in the car in the meantime. Does anyone have a set of wheels I could borrow for a week or so whilst I get them done? My car won't be drive and will sit in the garage. I'm in south Birmingham.

Regards

Simon

For £140 I can post you my old 108s. The rim look like crap (the center "star" shape is is fine) because the lacquer or whatever is peeling. Check my for sale post for pics.

Basically £100 for the wheels (have 2 new tires on the front worth £120) + £40 courier via Paisley Freight (which is next day delivery 99% of the time)

There's a company in Birmingham that will do the wheels. I think they'll do a day service? I'll try get their website. By far your best bet. Unless you're looking for a second set for winter?

Hi Simon

I have the original wheels that were on my car when I bought it. You are welcome to borrow them. We live just south of Lincoln between Lincoln and Sleaford if you want to collect them.

Wowzers!! They're really good prices! Previously I was looking at £400 - £500 for a refurb!! Using them would potentially only cost £120. Although that's only a good deal if you can ship the wheels to them and they'll send them back although that could potentially add £80 to the costs for the courier. Still, £200 for a refurb is a decent price

Thanks for the offers guys, IRD I may take you up on the offer.

I think Birmingham powder coaters are city wheels, they quote £20 a wheel! The kicker is they don't entertain split rims unless you split them. They do a same day service at £45 per wheel.

Oooohhh... that might explain the cheap(er) than expected price compared to previous quotes I had.

Damn that's cheap. I have 18" cades that are polished and laquered, I got a quote at the weekend to get them powder coated as the laquer has failed and I have a few kerb marks, I was quoted £70 a wheel.

have you not tried splitting them to be honest it was a lot easier than I thought it would be

Well worthwhile! A few members have used them before, you'll be hard pressed to get them done cheaper! And quality is pretty good as well.

Maybe get a friend to take them round? Even if it's two at a time? Save you a fair bob on the courier costs!

Plenty of threads on 108 refurbishment, for splitting the rims. Just make sure they're dowsed in penetrating oil to help get the bolts out.

I was planning on using them at one point as I had a meeting in Birmingham. So I would have couriered them there, but collected them so they can't get damaged at all in transport

If you do want to borrow my wheels Simon just PM me and I 'll send you my address etc.

Regards

Thanks IRD

All 80 bolts on mine have undone so no issues there so at £20 a wheel it's a no brainer as long as the don't wreck the threads. It's just the fact I need to put a set of wheels on the car whilst they are done.

does anyone know of someone who does similar prices closer to Southampton , or do I need a day/weekend away :D

been in touch with them today they will not strip 108s so you need to do that first and they are charging £25 per wheel with 2 colours dropping mine in asap will let you know the outcome

Should get the new clips tomorrow then it's good to go. Needed to re-repair it. It didn't survive the journey home. It cracked again. Got a mate to repair it with stuff called q-bond. Specifically for plastics. And filled in the washers. Photos soon.
