Wheels

I'm currently shopping for a second set of wheels as my current ones are a bit of a state. I know nothing about wheels really and have never changed a car from stock wheels.

I was wondering whether any/all varieties of e46 M3 wheels will fit the Z4M? Are the replica CSL wheels ok or are they flimsy/heavy/etc?

Sorry mate, but if you`ve already got an M, there`s only one choice for me.............ORIGINAL CSL`s ! 8)

Not sure I want 19s as they might ruin the ride? It's my daily driver and i do a 50 mile round trip commute.

Whatever you do don't get 19" ... 18" okay

BTW, it would help if you tell people what kind and model car you drive :)

It's in my signature (Z4MR)

Go on get some 19's you know you want to!
And if you fancy replica or other aftermarket wheels( there are quite a lot to choose from) then have some.
There are too many wheel snobs IMO.

E46 M3 wheels do fit. Roadtrip has a set in black on his roadster. CSLs suit the coupe better IMO but are expensive and some will say 19 "will affect the ride quality. If you have a mooch about you'll find pics of most wheel types fitted on an 'M'

x1

I've got 19" E46 M3 wheels on my coupe and personally I don't notice any difference whatsoever in the ride, but I don't think I'm the sort of driver to notice subtle differences!

There's loads of sets for sale which means you can get a decent refurbished set without tyres for about £500.

This isn't my car but looks pretty much the same:

Oh and this thread might help with inspiration: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=20556&start=0

i've got to say those wheels do suit the coupe

So are replicas "bad" and if so why? Are they heavier? Flimsier? Noticably so?

Basically I want 2 sets of wheels, one of which is going to have winter tyres on- i was going to get new wheels for the summer and put winter tyres on my existin M wheels which are a bit of a state..... i'm now thinking i could get some replicas with winter tyres, then send my OEM M wheels off to get refurbed/powder coated for the summer

I do not want to adversely effect the handling etc by putting loads of extra unsprung weight on though - none of the adverts for wheels seem to state the weight, which i would have thought was the most important thing

They fit absolutely fine without spacers by the way, but due to the different offsets the fronts are inwards by 5mm and in an ideal world I'd use some 10mm spacers to push them out a bit. By the time you're bought longer bolts (standard and locking) it adds up to £150 on parts so I just didn't bother.

Hmmmm good advise. I'll have to look at my options then
