Wheels upgrades

Just a word the the lovers of runflats...... you have not had the issues with the 296 wheels. Run flats and larger 19' alloys just dont mix - go to 18 or even 17's and those dont seem to have the issues with the wheels cracking - I love the idea of run flats great idea but the tyre wheel combo must cope with what the roads throw at them and Im not talking pot holes - Ive had two wheels go and they still roll under the bmw 2mm threshold. Ive spent nearly £900 on replacing two wheels.... next crack it will be a drop in size I afraid, or a chance to 19' forged alloys....

No cracks in 5 years of e89 ownership (18" & 19") dodge the pot holes, simple!

Ive avoided potholes and watched where I have driven - the 296 style do crack on the inside lip. Its a known fault with these wheels....

Now that I like very much. Don't suppose you're selling the wheels... ??? :poke:

Just bought the car few days ago and changed the tyres from my old E85 Z4.

Wheels are
8,5x19 ET34 with 235/35R19
9,5x19 ET34 with 265/30R19

I think you can get them somewhere closer then from Finland ;)

Did those wheels with those offsets just go straight on? Standard suspension? No spacers, mods, no rubbing etc?

I'm still trying to plug my way through what will and what won't fit - and come to some understanding regarding what degree of offset I can safely play with. Nice looking car by the way.......

I've only had my Z4 for 3 weeks now but I have just replaced the Bridgestone RFT's on my 2009 E89 with Goodyear F1 Directional 5's and WOW, what a difference. Never had tyres make such a huge difference to noise/handling and comfort. I was going to go the 18" route as well but couldn't justify the NZ$3000 it was going to cost here in NZ for the rims I wanted, so stuck to the factory 17's. Local tyre shop was running a buy 3 get 1 tyre free. Cost me just 442 UK pounds with wheel alignment. I'm wrapped!

Yeah..wheels were taken from my old E85 Z4. Standard sdrive35is with M-Sport suspension, no spacers, no mods and no rubbing what so ever. Thinking about lowering it 20mm next summer.

Here's picture of my old E85, with H&R -35mm springs.... there was some rubbing ;)

I'd go for these or preferably by a better model in the first place to achieve better value for money.

Non run flats are recommended but stay with a good tyre brand

Thanks, that's very helpful. Were there any issues with Tyre Pressure Monitoring that you had to overcome to get it to work as fitted?
