Having had the 108's off the car the last couple of weekends to paint the calipers I was shocked at the corrosion on the insides of the wheels on a car with less than 10K on it and just over 18 months old despite reading all the posts on here about refurbs etc.
Has anyone tried to get a replacement set under warranty and how did you fare?
I did this for a similar problem on a Celica a few years back, Toyota were very good and replaced all four wheels no questions asked!

New car warranty yes good chance of getting them changed but AUC Used car warranty wheels are not covered

I am off to BMW this Sat to get them to replace all 4 of 108's - on the phone they said no problem after an inspection.

And like you i had my Gen 7 Celica Fondmetal replaced under a new car warranty... so hoping BMW will be as easy to deal with as Toyota were.

I've had all four replaced twice under warrenty. Car four years old now, and the corresion is slowly creaping back, and I've keep my wheels wery clean and well waxed. I believe their are no 108 which do not have a corrosion problem after time.

It's not just 108's, it's anything with lacquer over polished/diamond cut alloy... they all do it.

Poor bonding means a pin prick chip will slowly let water and air under the lacquer and then directly corrode the alloy... this is much less likely with a multi-coat well bonded normal paint finish...

I had a full set replaced under warranty @ 3 years old with no problems

Hi got my 2.0 zed in October- 57 plate ,noticed blistering on three of the four wheels-took it back to the BMW dealers who looked and without blinking said they would replace with new.
Went back last week to get them fitted and they put four on instead of three-now that is what i call service. :D
On the downside drove round the corner and got a flat :x cost me £250 so i went from very happy to just happy in the space of one hour,oh well such is life!! 8)
So i would defo go back to your dealer-good luck.

TBH I think every member on here with a car less than three years old has had some, if not the whole set of 108's replaced at least once.

Many thanks for the info everyone, looks like it will be a trip to the dealers soon then!

Fairly new to all this, so sorry if i'm asking the obvious - if I bought a set of Genuine BMW 107's/108's (which I am looking for) and put them on my Z, then 3 months later I noticed corrosion begning to creep in, can I go to any BMW dealer and as them to replace them?

Cheers

Assuming you bought new from the dealer, you have the standard 12 months warranty only.

Like PVR says unless you have a receipt from BMW for them no hope as your car is now over 3 years old.

Took my car to my local dealer over the weekend.. they took one look at them and said they will replace all 4 of mine, however said they had to be ordered in from somewhere so its a 4 week wait!

I could also do with some new rear tyres.. may try my luck to see if they can fit them if i buy them from camskill!

I thought it's 2 years (well they said my hardtop is, so would of thought other parts were too?).
