was a bit indifferent to this episode tbh. not the usual buy a rustbucket and get it nice. interesting with the seats and bits but nothing to write home about for me. car looked a cracker by the end tho :thumbsup:
 
Hate the way Mike always let the cars go for cheaper than he originally says. Considering hes a car dealer, he seems easy to haggle down. Sometimes he gives it to them cheaper just cos he likes the look of them!
 
We could sit here all day saying he should do this, the show could be better at such and such, but the long and the short of it is it's still better than 90% of the crap on TV so is worth a watch.

Very true, I love watching it even though I have no mechanical ability whatever.
 
Ive bought and sold a few of the classics in the series (similar ones that is not the actual TV ones featured). Although I like the show I've no idea where he gets his prices from. His sale prices are in the right ballpark (although usually not if only the work listed has been carried out) but his purchase prices are in the land of dreams.

Mini for £600 with tax and MOT, no rust just needs a paint job - not possible in the real world (£1200 approx)
TR6 for £6000, mechanical strong and no rust or paint issues - about 50 -70% out (£9-10000)
E type for £13k - no no no (20K start price if you're lucky)

notice how they can get a respray for £1000, or their refurb wheels end up with new tyres too. My biggest bug is reusing old nuts and bolts, it's just not what happens.

still think it's one of the best 10 prigs on TV, but I don't watch that much.

I know of a couple of their cars in the real world and they are not great and needed a lot of work to make them reliable.

the Z1 was on ebay earlier in the summer for £21000
 
ive noticed the wheels one before, they always seems to come back with a new set of boots. i'd like to see him do a z4 and get the 108's refurbed for £50 quid like he seems to.

ive always wondered what goes on behind closed doors. stuff seems to get done really easily sometimes. i like the fact that they show you how to do stuff for yourself. its sort of like ..."look you can change the discs yourself easilly and not pay a fortune"

its always a good allround program just the other night seemed a bit dull.
 
I think you miss the point on what they buy and sell cars for. If you factored in the labour and transport in the case of US cars then everyone makes a huge loss.

This is done to sell a TV show/series to the channel. No idea what they get but bet it's a massive slab for each show plus a revenue flow for each repeat for years to come.

They will also make on endorsements and traders will offer good rates to get their name in the market & associated with the show.

At the end of the day its probably not even classed like a motoring show but more entertainment, much as Top Gear is. So really who cares if they . the i's and - the t's :thumbsup:

It is enjoyable and I like it for the little mechanical tips that Ed chucks in

Agree that most of the purchase prices are way low and you would struggle to find these in the real world - also I wouldn't buy some of the end products - that Interceptor was a rust bucket and a money pit for example

WD has been for years and continues to be a very enjoyable show IMO. I could [and have] watch back to back episodes for hours and the detail, setup and clearly great friendship Mike and Ed have is great. Clearly they love cars and I'm just gutted I can only get my fix on Quest.

Me too....back in the days when it was two half hour shows per car. Used to have loads on Sky+ for a Saturday morning.
 
I love it when Ed needs a new part and has to go source one off the Internet and when it turns up he's got the same clothes on
 
I just Sky+ it and skip through all the contrived crap and just watch the bits with Ed actually fixing things
