For the wheeler dealer fans out there..

Fancy buying the DB7 featured a couple of weeks ago?

Spotted this on PistonHeads, yes I was searching Aston's..

Tom.

I hate to say it but they do just look a bit too dated for me these days. Ok, call it classic retro or whatever but that interior especially

Time is cruel - the world had such beauty and simplicity as the e39 interior at the time that Aston was built.

Even the S1 Elise was in pre production.

As a kid, YES. Now, not so much...

In the worth considering section at the bottom of the page, however...

Lacks detail, but I'm a big fan of the red on black!

I think the DB7 will come again - seems to me they have a fallow patch at about 20 years old and then pick up look at what 1980s Vantages now go for .

It does look at this point that time has been kinder to the XK particularly when it comes to the interior...

Although if it was me I'd try and find the extra for the new model

Have no desire or liking for AM in any shape or form , Stick a big engine up front & hope the luxury interior smoozes the potential buyers
for me they are a car bought by bar-room-braggers who wish to announce their apparent success then selling a few months later when the newness wears off . No real appreciation of design & engineering 8) which is just as well :P Maserati much more class if that was the chosen market

No attention to design? - DB9 Probably the prettiest GT in a generation . A car shape that Ferrari just can't get right.

Yep, have to agree that the DB9 is one of the classiest cars out there, even if its not the most dynamic in terms of the drive.

My wife and I got close to buying (used) either a V8V or DB9 and drove both, but couldn't get away from the fact that the 911 Turbo we were comparing against was so much more accomplished in so many more areas, all except that 'bond' x factor.

And the turbo was £10k cheaper too, so that's the route we went.

It doesn't do it for me I'm afraid - just looks like an old money pit

It's for me a Bit like Jags & Range Rovers - all looks & reputation but no quality - I can't understand why people pay big money for poor reliability!

AM way to "pipe & slippers" for me & as said far too much money against similar rivals for woeful reliability & engineering
fortunately i can't afford to even consider one :D

True but let's be honest everyone I know who has owned a Jag or Disco / Range Rover regretted the experience with significant unreliability issues

Now on my 6th BMW and yes I've had issues but not on the same scale

If they are the best other contenders - certain (Although the Lamborghini is not really a GT)

Of the three the Masserati is the only one that gets close but is spoilt by the grille.

Good debate though

Almost bought one of these instead of going down the BMW ///M route, but an extended test drive showed me the 6 cylinder one was & felt much slower than an similarly-powered e34 M5.

What finally clinched the deal on the e34 M5 was my ex-Aston friend who told me to stay away from the DB7 completely, or make sure I had a pot of money saved equal to the amount I was going to spend on the car.

There were 'allegedly' packaging issues with the exhaust/gearbox where they wanted a flat floor - despite the engineers telling them the exhaust should be run in a different channel to the transmission due to heat issues. Management decided otherwise and so began a spate of free gearbox changes under warranty.

Do like the Aston look, but the older ones are looking dated, while certain other cars of a similar age still hold more appeal,eg Opel Manta,E30 M3,etc(i know not in the same league when new),but would definately have an Aston db9 or Vantage new if funds allowed...though would also seriously look at a current shape Jag xk/r
