Wheel squeak

The car has recently developed an odd squeek around the wheel.

Im not 100% sure whether its front or rear, but most likely rear, drivers side.

It quite a high pitched rotational squeak/chirp. Its present at all speeds, flat or bumpy roads and whether turning left or right.
It possible disappears (at least reduces) when applying the brakes..

I have had the car in the air but cant replicate the noise, nor can i see anything obviously amiss around the hub/brake area.

Any ideas? :? Its quite loud and embarassing to drive!

Check your brake pads for wear also check they dont have something like a stone caught in the caliper. If you apply the handbrake very lightly does it go away. I have seen pictures of the handbrake shoe linings coming loose.

i did try a few days ago and it didnt seem to make any difference.. But ill try again later and leave it on for a more prolonged period

Ok so handbrake on, makes little, if any difference.
But, i do think it may be the wheel bearing. There is a bit of play in the wheel, even with the car on floor..

I have this at the moment, just had it diagnosed as a handbrake shoe issue. Try not using the handbrake for a week and see if it goes away, it does for me, then immediately comes back if I use it again
