Wheel Spacers

Someone commented today that I could so with wheel spacers? Apparently Eibach do them, push the wheels out a bit as they do tend to look a bit 'pushy inny'.

I don't know anything about them, but I imagine they would put undue stress on the components overall?

Anyone use them? Have any pics? :driving:
 
I use them on my rear winter wheels.
Max suggested size is 15mm.
They do place added stress on the wheel bearings.
These are quality spacers made by Rogue Enginineering...

My winter wheels use 15mm spacers and they place my winter wheels in the same position as my stock wheels. I store my winter wheels with the local BMW dealer and they do the wheel exchange and as an FYI a 15mm spacer is the max they will install.

Yes, Alan, I did. Thanks for the suggestion but without spending a long while looking through every single post that mentioned 'spacers' I won't know if there are any before/after pics included in any of them.

Was hoping someone could post some.

I'm also a firm believer that it keeps the forum moving, if nobody ever posted because the topic had been covered years ago, then this place would eventually become a library rather than a forum.

15mm spacers don't place any more strain on wheel bearings than an alloy wheel with an offset 15mm wider does. They both have the the same effect.

I guess the associated thing you need is longer wheel bolts?

Keen to know too as I think my van wheels need pushed out slightly - I'm keeping steel wheels but any alloys that fit the van are always different offset which put them 15-20mm further out, so spacers with my steel wheels would be great IMO.
 
I looked into them. As a11y says you then need longer bolts which aren't that expensive themselves (about £1.50 each) but you also need longer locking bolts, and by the time I added it all up it was about £150 before fitting even, and I figured it wasn't worth it to push the wheels out by 10mm.
 
It's the price that's put me off them in the past - as you say, a lot of money for a minor change. TBH there's other things I'd rather spend £150 on, ideally V-Power :driving:
 
I used H&R spacers when I was running the OEM 19" E46 M3 wheels..... quite pricey but if they are good enough for OEM mercedes and Porsche they where good enough for my dear old Z.
Dont skimp on the longer bolts either ! Any less thread contact than the standard and you may be looking at sheared bolts / wheel off :o
