Wheel spacers for e86.

Hi all.

I've decided to go for wheel spacers on my z4 coupe.

Just have a couple of questions ;

Is it best to fit both back AND front ?

What would be the ideal size/thickness of the spacers for the best aesthetic ? (OEM set up at the moment)

Ive seen a set of Bimecc spacers with bolts (made in Italy) on the internet @ 15mm back / 12mm front. for £129.

Would these suffice ? :driving:

Many go 20mm rear / 15mm front but those above would work very well .
You can also go 4 x 15mm https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wheel-Spacers-For-BMW-7-Series-F01-F02-F03-F04-15mm-Hubcentric-5x120-72-6/362179907493?hash=item54539acfa5:m:m59mKS6RkzQwnzIgbGMrzHA ive used these previously with no issues :thumbsup:

I found 15mm all round was the best balance. Felt 20mm at the back put the wheels a bit far out. Your call though as a personal preference

The bolts in this link won't fit an E85, E86 or E89. We need spacers with M12x1.5 thread size.

I have M size tyres on my E86 (slightly higher side profile), so went for a moderate 5mm front and 12mm rear.

They are available on ebay with black bolts and the correct M12x1.5 thread.

Do you have the Bimecc ?

I'll be fitting Precision spacers next week - 12mm front and 15mm rear - after seeing recommendations on sizes here.

Got the pair for £69.00 on Amazon including bolts.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07J2NKTMG/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_TUGLDb9732X50

Got new wheels as well - but same offset as the OEM 108s (47f, 50r). Hopefully will look OK

Seems like a good deal.........maybe too good (?) Half the price of the Bimecc which have a good rep. I'll do some research .

I have fitted Precision spacers complete with bolts from Ebay on my E85 - 20 Rear, 15 Front. Spot on, no issues with quality - again for £70 all in :D

I have Simoni spacers. Came with all bolts and a good quality product at a reasonable cost.

Still deciding on the best size front and rear , but I had a thought ;

The oem wheel offset for a non M e86 is 47F and 50R. A difference of 3 between front and back. Would it not be a better idea to keep the same difference of "3" by adding a uniform thickness of spacer (whatever that maybe) all-round (?)

Seems to make more sense to me after reading about general tram-lining issues ,understeer/oversteer , and veering problems under braking with some set-ups . :driving:

Was thinking the same myself. Lowered mine 30mm recently on Eibachs and have staggered 18s set up so surely you'd want to keep the same degree of difference. Rather than spacing 15 rear and 12 front I'm gonna just space 15s all round.

Stay away from the cheap stuff. I fitted 18 rear and 10 front only to discover I had added a vibration at high speed. So I removed the front spacers, careful not to rotate the tire, and behold the vibration was gone. SO now I have just the rear widened and rather like the look 8)

I messed about with spacers and ended up running 20mm front and 15mm rear with lowered setup and 18”

Nothing special on mine just self cantering eBay jobbies with adjusted bolts. Seemed good quality for the price and road use.

I cheated really!

I wanted to change my wheels before the 108s my car came on needed a refurb, and ended up buying a set of staggered 18s from an E89 owner.

Because they are ET29 on the front and ET40 on the rear I've got the same effect as an 18mm spacer on the front and 10mm on the rear which seems to work pretty well!

TBF as all of the OE 18s were the same sizes and offsets as MV2s, 108s or 107s with spacers will sit the same.
