hello, I haven't posted much since joining so I thought I'd share an update!
As i said a while back my roof motor had failed but i hadn't got round to sorting it. well last week i removed the roof with help from the old man and surprise! the roof motor casing was flooded! we tried to clean out the brushes with WD40 and possibly bring it back to life but I wasn't that lucky, it was a goner!
i followed shipkillers guide which was very helpful, only problem we encountered was the two new wires the new motor is supplied with (green and blue) do not correspond to the vehicles original wiring loom colours so once we had fitted the roof again the buttons were reversed! no worries though we just switched the pins on the plug to the chassis! also my roof drains were blocked solid so i got an air blower out and a few pipe cleaners ect. i honestly cant see how you could possibly clear out the drains sufficiently without having the roof removed, especially on the motor side. but its all done now, casing sealed up and working like new!
I received some hub-centric 20mm wheel spacers in the post today which I've fitted this morning and i am very pleased with the results. its always bugged me how the rear wheels sit so far back into the arches so i can sleep at night now I've fitted them. i haven't decided if I'm going to fit spacers to the front yet, I'm going to see how these go first. any way heres the pictures before and after. the rear has a much better stance now. probably going to go for a set of lowering springs soon to get the stance right.
