Wheel Refurb

Had anyone used Chaplane, in Colchester Essex, for a wheel refurb at all?
Zed is in having door repaired after boss hit it, and thought ideal time to do them...
Quoting £80 + vat per wheel...

Lepsons which are regarded as one of the best charge £220+ vat for four. Add £40+vat if you have tyres on.

Still a lot cheaper than you have been quoted.

£264 no tyres

£312 with tyres

Your price £384

Standard 18" and 19" the going rate is around £55 - £65 per wheel + vat but that should be totally stripped! sand blasted back to original alloy and the powder coated and sealed. Sorry don't have any recommendations close to you though.

Thanx all.. They do seem a bit expensive then.. Gotta work out in my mind if the convienence outweighs the cost..

Also, I'm having 3 done.. Is the 4th likely to look odd not done?

Hi..
Potentially, YES.. The 4th, might look odd :!: :!:
Depends if they are doing a FULL refurb' or a partial one along with: are they matching the finish you have currently, or simply doing what they can, to get a close match and Powder Coating, or wet painting, etc??
Simple answer is: try and get all 4 done, in the same finish TBH.. Thus, guarantee'ing, the same colour on all 4 rims, one would hope
Cheers..

I'm guessing, a full refurb.. I asked what the process was, his answer was as follows...

"Certainly, the tyres are removed & wheels get dipped to take all the existing paint and primer off the wheel. Any damage e.g curb or otherwise get addressed at the bare metal stage, then a primer coat and then two coats of base followed by two coats of clear lacquer. Once the wheels are cured, new valves are installed and tyres put back on and then balanced.
Alloy refurbs generally come with a 12 month warranty."
