Wheel Refurb Up North

So Ive decided on the colour that I want to have my wheels done in. I want the quality of Lepsons where the wheels are taken back to the metal and done from scratch. Problem is Swindon is a 504 mile round trip for me. I was wondering if anyone up in the North knows of a good refurber? as good as Lepsons? Traveling is not a problem but 500 miles is a bit extreme.

I want a shadow chrome finish and as described above.

Cheers in advance.

Hi tom there's a place called the blast shop at thursby carlisle supposed to be good but thats only word of mouth havent used them myself mate

I used a fully insured courier to send mine to Lepsons. I was very impressed with the care they took in wrapping the wheels for the return journey.

Thanks Metal Licker I will look into this.

Bradders75 cheers for this, I will also look into it but Have a feeling it will be cheaper to just go down for a weekend :D and have it all done at the same time.

Tom,

Worth trying S.E.M at Sunderland. I believe the dealer I bought from use them, and certainly did a good job with mine.

Wheel specialist did mine...as they are a franchise, standards are hit or miss...Mine are ok. For reference i paid...£330?!

The automated quote for the newcastle branch was £440. Including waxing, Lepsons do the same for £330 and there website is a lot more reassuring they explain the process whereas at Wheel specialist glaze over the process and don't say anything about taking them back but just powder coating. Don't really want them powder coating over the current colour as they are more likely to flake over time.

No worries. For reference, I paid £64 in total for couriers which seemed reasonable. Lepsons didn't charge for the packaging.

I've used the wheel specialist in Newcastle before. They were very pricey

But they did do an excellent job, fully taken back balanced fitted etc, and the guy who I spoke with was obsessed. really enthusiastic and seemed passionate about what he did

I was just wondering about this having kerbed my NSF alloy on some ridiculously high kerbs in a multi-storey in Perth. Guess I'll be visiting my friends down south again!!!

I've used Paisley Freight several times to courier my wheels to National Alloys for refurbs, worked out £39 for all four 19" alloys with tyres IIRC.

Used them in Leeds 10% for BMW Club Members. Full set of 19 rims of my wires 325i. Stripped and powder coated. Very good finish all in £346.

I paid a bit more for split rim 108s. They completely separated the two components and did a different finish on the outer rim. The guy had sourced a stock of hex nuts from BBS some time prior. He said the had had quite few people with BBS split rims over the years and he was well used to separating and then reassembling, tightening to the correct torque etc, and that having the stock of nuts was useful to replace the occasional damaged nut. All in I paid £500. Felt a little bit violated by price but in fairness they did a really fantastic job, still look absolutely pristine today and that's 3 years on.
