I decided to park in the westfield shopping center today (as it was cold and i didnt want to wear a coat)... stupidly i clipped the high curb near the barrier... i am still kicking myself over it :headbang:

Does anyone have a recommendation to a place which can refurb this for me ?

Not good I feel for you, I see the curse of the VMR's strikes again. I was hoping the Vreds were going to offer a bit more protection than the Falkens. :headbang: ,

Sorry can't help with a place to get them refurbed but if it's consolation mine need redoing again after the last bodge job, I was washing the car the other day and the all the Powder Coating started peeling off.

I think the problem with the rims is that the lip does extend out more then the spokes.... and the rim protection of the tyre can only do so much... i literally drove into the curb

Rang a few places today.. most can do it in 2 days, but during the week... and i work abroad monday to friday and i dont fancy leaving my car at some place for a whole week. The only other option is leave it on my drive with the front wheel on my 108..

Might see if i can sand it down and fill it myself this weekend, as its even bugging me now at night when i cant even see it :headbang:

Couldn't you use the 108 as a spare wheel?

I think thats what i may have to do..... prob is my 108's are boxed up in London! so will need to fetch one next weekend... wanted to fill and sand the damage today; but by the looks of the weather and the forecast tomorrow doubt i'll be able to.

have you tried speedy tyres in derby. they are usually cheap and if you went first thing and pushed them a bit, i'm sure they could turn it around in a day..... i think they open on sundays too

I've just had two refurbed at Sytner Nottingham after a similar minor kerbing. Early days so far but they look like they've done a good job. Come with a 2-year guarantee as well. You have to get a quote per wheel but looking at your photo I'd say they'll quote about £75.

Cheers for the tip... i rang them on Sunday... apparently they are booked for a few weeks... but they were very competitivly priced.

Didnt think of that... would they even do non BMW wheels?

As my car isnt going to be driven till next Saturday i decided to fill damage yesterday.... lucky the damage was only cuts and no deformation of the lip.. will give it a sanding and then paint the whole lip and see how it looks!

Not sure but I suspect they get someone in to do them so don't see why not. They have a display in the dealership at the moment near to the service desk...give them a ring and ask. Tel no is 0115 934 1414.

Thanks.. will give them a call and see what they say

First Class Alloys in Lichfield will do you a good job if needed. Just a few miles down the road.

I know the owner real well

BTW - the barrier exit kerbs in their S shape at Westfiled are a real wheel trap

Cheers cj.. out of interest is that the place which sprayed your side skirts? I could do with a good bodyshop too to get a few bits painted!

And the s curbs on the westfields are just stupid.... admitely my driving was the cause of the incident but looking at the curbs which are now multicoloured looks like they have caught a lot of people out... i usually park in the underground parking in the westfield down the back of Sainsbury's as the road is less steep and off the barrier the curb is straight!

Nope - they are a mile apart, but I can put you in touch with owners of both companies.

Car park entrances where they make a stupid chicane out of kerbs for no obvious good reason annoy me. In the Bullring B'ham the kerb is shot to bits and black where people clip it as they enter and exit the barrier and have to turn sharp

Well i have done a DIY fix for now... Will get it professionally done in later in the year.. as i fancy getting all 4 of them re coloured in shadow chrome.

You can only notice it close up now.. as you can see where the lacquer overlaps on the lip... but from a distance it cant be seen; and wont annoy everytime i see my car!

And after painting/ lacquering and compounding: (car had just been washed... hence the rusty looking break disks  )

Good job! My alloys are needing a bit of TLC - tempted to get them powdercoated later in the year so might well do this as a stopgap.

Or just bite the bullet and get them refurbed and powdercoated when I get paid!

Catch the bus next time :D

Interesting... i went there earlier in the year for a quote on getting a paintless dent repair after someone gave me a door ding.

They are also next to britannia tyres.. the place where i get my mot done as it only cost £26 this year.
