Wheel offset - new wheel decision

I'm thinking about buying a new set of Bola wheels for my garage queen Zed.
Currently have 107s, they sit well inside the arches which isn't a good look imo, the wheels I'm considering are spec'd as follows...

Front 8.5 x 18 - ET35 (tyres will be 225 40 18)
Back 9.5 x 18 - ET38 (tyres will be 255 35 18)
The car has "Msport" suspension.

I realise the offset will push the wheels out, alot. But will they fit OK? IE no scrubbing on the arches. The Shop seemed to think they'll be fine, but I'd like to consult the forum's expertise for a 2nd opinion.

I'm wondering it they'll look too aggressive, Thoughts?

Cheers

They will be fine . Iv ran 9.5 et 15 on the front and 10.5 et 22 on the rear .

Thanks that's good to know. By the sounds of it I'm being conservative!

The wheel widths & offsets will be fine though you wouldn't want to go much further (10j et 22 id really like to see pics of  )
Your tyres might look a little undersized compared to how they look on oe 8j / 8.5j 108 or Mv2 :( more noticeable on the rear for obvious reasons .

10.5 et 22

Sold now though and I’m going “down” to a 9.5 et19

So not a weekender or daily driver then  if they had functional size tyres on they would be a no-no so perhaps you might be dangling a carrot to the op here that isn't realistic to most owners

It gets driven quickly and often other than between dec - Mar . I only need the smaller tyres for airing out . At normal ride height larger tyres would be fine .

Thank you, yes I guess the tyres will be a bit stretched, but I quite like the look tbh. The tyres I have (Avon zz5) sit well outside the current wheels so it should be OK.

There is no way on earth a 9.5j et 15 on the front with "normal" tyres wouldn't rip the arch liners clean out if you drove it even steady through town & i tried 9j et 20 once on rear of a E86 Si  they were out of the arch so i know where a 10.5j et 22 would sit

Subscribed as I’m going down a similar path. Please post pics when the wheels are fitted @ the OP

The car is sorn at the moment, it'll come out for a service and MOT during March and as long as there's no nasty £ surprises (which there won't be) it'll be the back end of March before I pull the trigger. But yes I'll post some pics.

So do I 😂 being that they had “normal tyres” on when I first got them . Unfortunately, and suited to your argument , I don’t have any pictures because it looked terrible . Down a couple of tyre sizes and some camber tweaking . Jobs a good un 👍
