Will 17" wheels fit a M model, looking to get a spare set for winter tyres, track days etc?

Without being an expert on ///M, I would think so, provided you get similar offset and width.

So, some 8J or 8.5J wheels with 40mm front offset and 27mm rear offset should be OK I would think.

I'm sure the gurus will correct me if I'm wrong. The only issue I can think of would be brake caliper clearance and disc clearance. But I wouldnt imagine going down 1" in wheel size could cause issues. If it were 16" wheels, you would probably have issues.

Depends on their width and offsets (et number)
The fact they are 17 inch is not really relevent if the above are right.

Wary of brake caliper clearance Dave. E.g. 3.0si cant have 16" rims regardless of the offset and width. The circumference of the wheel is too small to accomodate the caliper...

Agree with adamski - but even sticking with 18" doesn't guarantee clearing the disks / calipers. I've got mv1s and there's not as much interior clearance as the same 18" mv2s I took off.

OP would need to fit before committing I'd suggest ( ps I've got some 17s 200s he could buy!!)

17s wont clear the brakes......
X2 as I had a set of 17 inch wheels that I used as winter wheels on my previous 3.0 Zeds and had planned to use them on my ///M with a 15mm spacer on the rear. There is a better selection of winter tire options for 17 inch rims and they are cheaper but they would not clear the brakes on the front wheels.

Thread resurrection for today :P
I have read many times in the past few years how a 17inch wheel will not clear the caliper
Now i can confirm i have just fitted a 8j x 17inch rim with offset 35 to the front of Z4M roadster & it spins free as a bird
It has a 215 40 17 tyre fitted which could be a 225 as it does look a little stretched but its for emergency use only as i always like to have a spare wheel even if its only in the garage
Cba trying the back but worse case scenario a 10mm spacer would sort it

funnily enough their was a guy with 17" apex wheels on his ///M with really chunky tyres it looked so cool!
