Had a closer look at one of my wheels whilst replacing the brake pad wear sensor.
The inside of the wheel has some bad corrosion. What i did notice was a pattern of six holes that had been pressed into the wheel at 90 degrees to each other, say at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock position.
Looked like the clamp position when a tyre had been changed at a tyre fitters. The grippers must have had six teeth sticking out which had punctured, what looks like the epoxy paint finish. The pattern looks like three snake bites!
This has allowed water to corrode the alloy wheel and bubble the finish.
Managed to clean it up a bit, but just to warn others if you go to a tyre fitters, keep a check on how they handle the wheel.
