Wheel Colour Choice

While we're all hot on the subject of wheels I thought I'd throw my colour choice dilemna onto the forum. I need to have my Alpina Dynamics refurbished due to some kerb damage and the corrosion around the valve cap (warranty problem that BMW refused to honour) so fancy a change of colour at the same time. Car is Sapphire black metallic so I'm tempted by a darker colour wheel (without going black) to give it a proper menacing dark destroyer look. Seen similar colour to this first pic on a new Civic where I live (don't mock, it honestly looks class not chav!) and on an SL55AMG and it looked awesome on a black car. Unfortunately I have no photoshop skills so have to make the decision based on different style wheels nicked off websites:-

Satin Black:-

Matt Black:-

Black Chrome:-

Charcoal Anthracite:-

Or stay traditional (but a bit brighter) with Hi-Power Silver:-

Or final thought, but probably most expensive and not sure if possible, black spokes with polished silver rim.

Opinions?

Satin or Matte for sure. Should look killer. But why not true black? Not that it would look better than the satin, just curious.

I like Dark wheels. I am currently watching a set of Z4 alloys on 'ebay' that have been split and the centre section painted Black. I think they will look pretty good on the Yellow Z of mine?

I'm going to get mine done, probably in matt black.

Post a decent pic of your car and I'll PS it for you, I did it for mine too.

Yep I will do, I might find an Alpina pic on the net and do it now while I watch the football - come on Leeds :)

FYI these were the ones for my SLK, although I can't quite decide on which one looks best, top one is original -

Thanks all for the replies - my favourite is satin black too, pretty sure thats the closest match for the Civic and SL I've seen. :D Not convinced by full black, dunno why really except that when I was looking at Exiges before I bought the Alpina the car that really took me was the one that didn't have the standard black wheels. Interestingly it had the standard Exige wheels in silver and I thought it set it off really well but now I'm contemplating moving away from silver. :o Looking at that last pic Mike did I'm wondering if black might not be back in the running. 8)

Mike - top man with the photshop, you even found pics of my actual car. Gonna be cheeky now - is there a grey tone between the last 2 pics? And could you do one with spokes black and rim left as in the original? :D Not sure I could get that done but I have a feeling it would look awesome.

This is a bit inbetween -

To do the edge silver, I would need a higher-res pic like 3000 x 2200 or similar size.

Cheers for that again Mike

Did you actually do the wheels on your SLK? The last pic looks awesome - if you haven't already, go for it!

No, I got a quote from http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/ which is where I think you got your pics from, and it came in at £376 (remember mine are only 17s too) so after that I thought I might just buy some aftermarket 18s instead, not too much difference in price really.

So just waiting to decide what to do.

Most of the pics are from there but the satin black one is from here - http://www.wheelrefurbishing.com. Had them recommended to me many times and they're cheaper than http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/. Problem I have with any of them is I don't have another set of wheels so its a case of giving them the car for a few days. Well http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/ say they can do in a day but they aren't exactly local. :x

Got some time off in a couple of weeks so hoping to do something about it then. Dealer quoted me £200 per wheel!!

Yep I have the same problem wih only having one car/set of wheels. Other website looks OK actually.

£200/wheel
