Wheel cleaning technics?

I'm toying with the idea of getting different aftermarket wheels. Some that I like look like they would be very time consuming to clean (wash). I've always used whatever tool (mitt, brush, rag) and soap to clean my wheels. I REALLY HATE CLEANING WHEELS! :cry: I know there are spray on-hose off type of wheel cleaners available but have never tried any. Do they work well? Any brands that are recommended? Some of the wheels that I like have some sort of small (decorative)allen head bolts that are placed around the wheel where the center of the wheel and the rim come together. There's no way I can see me with a brush trying to clean all those little bolts!
 
I'm not personally one for being a perfectionist with wheels, because they get dirty so quickly; so I don't personally clean inside bolts. I clean my CSLs with a mitt, and it's an absolute nightmare - it takes ages. I personally wouldn't trust putting chemicals on the wheels just to make cleaning easier, since I've seen so many wheels which have been ruined because of this. Just use shampoo, some elbow grease, and some patience. Of course, getting a wheel brush will also help you save time, but make sure it's soft!
 
I always use a Karcher pressure hose, saves on the elbow grease

When the wheels are new or spotlessly clean use rimwax or similar to wax the wheels as this makes them a lot, lot easier to clean afterwards with just normal carwash solutions. For really dirty wheels I use a natural citrus derived cleaner called Viro-Sol (available on-line). Cleans exceptionally well and doesn't damage the alloy or any paintwork.
 
I was really hoping to hear about some "latest and greatest" sprayon stuff that was SUPER easy and didn't hurt anything. Man, I swear every time I clean my wheels I end up hurting a finger or two 'cause I get too impatient and try to hurry the job. :thumbsdown:
 
I saw a place steam cleaning the wheels of a car absolutely baked on with brake dust - it was bloody amazing how quickly it all came off leaving them spotless. They also steam clean the body of cars as well - I couldn't believe it until I saw it.
I'm going to try the wifes hand held steamer on the wheels next time.
