Wheel choice

203s I'd say (close run thing). The 107s look much better with the effect of the whole car (Ski's pic above) than the close-up at the top of the thread imo. Ease to clean should not be underestimated - coming from someone with Alpina Dynamics!!

AlanL's car has the 203's on it if you wanna see a whole car perspective :)

Here is a link to another forum with his car

I meant the 203s look good close up or in the context of the whole car whereas the 107s imo don't look so good in a close up but can look great on the car in full view. As I said, of the 2 probably the 203s win out for me

All in all it's a matter of choice..I just noted that it's (107's) rather easy to clean for me as other's said it wasn't for them..

Absolutely. Looking through the other thread about wheels there are at least half a dozen wheels I'd struggle to choose between - loads of styles look great on the Z4. As for cleaning the 107s don't look too bad for that whereas Dynamics are an absolute nightmare.

easty027, I agree the 108s look great but I have kerbed them and the dreaded corrosion has set in. Quotes for a proper refurbishment are quite eye watering so I figured better to get a one piece wheel which should be easier to refurb if needed.

Initially thought of the 107s, but saw the dealers book and like the 203s too, but they are a tad more expensive (£230 for the set) so I was after opinions, Im getting them :)

If anyone is interested the site I got those two photos off of this morning is here. it is German but its fairly simple to navigate around :)

Looks like alot of votes for the 203s so far... they would be easier to clean :D

I got my 108's refurbed for 200 quid all in, for all 4 alloys. They are liek new now.

Hi easty027

Taking delivery of my Z4 tomorrow c/w 108's.

I didn't know about the corrosion issues before I bought, i just fell in love with the style

Can you let me know who refurbed yours for £200. I'd like to keep their details on file for when I inevitably kerb the front wheels trying to park the looooong nose.

Thanks in advance.

Or scratch the front bumper like I did a couple of weeks ago. :headbang:

Beware of the nose

Yeah I would be interested to know who did yours too easty027...

If I could get 'em done for not much then it would be preferable :)

Thanks

I will try and find out for you, the garage selling the car had them done the day before i collected it. They are like new now. Have you had any quotes from alloy wheel refurb specialists, and i dont mean a mean stealership !.

I know what you mean about the long nose, it took me some time to get used to it. Good choice about the 108's...they look amazing when all cleaned up. I do seem to get a lot of comments about them from people. As i have said to gannet, i will try and find out and stick the details on here of the guys who refurbed mine. Congrats on the delivery of the Z, jesus i bet you cant wait !...post some pics when you collect it.

Thanks easty027 :D

I have various quotes, the best sounding one from the Wheel specialist but they are about 2 hours away from me

The next best was lepsons, this is for a full refurb was 110+VAT for each wheel :o

See my other thread about this here

As soon as you put '18' and 'split rim' into the equation all the wheel refurb quotes go ballistic! :(

A 200 quid deal must have been an agreement the garage had for continued business, surely?!!

My stealer said that they couldn't relace my 108s under warranty (approved-used warranty, 'cos the car is an 03) and they wouldn't quote or recommend that they are refurbished because of the 'special finish' they couldn't be sure of the results !! :headbang:
But for £200 I'd probably take the risk!
I look forward to finding out who did the refurb meantioned above ... they might give us a good price if there area few of us with the same problem!!!

Are you handy with mechanical things? I plan on doing this in the next month or so. Just bought the bondo yesterday.

Just thinking about this, as you like the 107s it might be worth getting the 202s instead, as they came off the facelift and look slightly better?

Dunno whether I dare post pictures of my damage but it more extensive than the damage shown on that website :? + I wouldnt trust myself to do a good job.

TBH I prefer the cleaner look of the 107s, the 202s look a little fussy around the wheel bolt areas...

I think this could turn into a 'whos got the worst 108s' thread soon! I bet mine are worse than yours Gannet :D !

I've got paint and laquer of in two inch sections, plus quite a bit of kerbing :(

I win that hands down. The outer rims are currently shattered and full of Staffordshire hedgerow and kerb stone fragments. :D
Until i pick the car up next Friday from the BMW bodyshop with a brand new set of 108's that is, oh yes!
