Currently running on 225/50/R16 front and rear on my 2003 2.5
Have seen a set of used 17 inch Msport rims locally, seller advises rim sizes as
Fronts are 7j
Rears are 7 1/2j
215/45/R17 on the front
And 225/45/R17 on the rears
Or you can run 215s all round
will these fit mine or should I be looking for another 17 inch set?

Well wheels and tyres of those sizes may well fit, but the missing element is the offset which determines how far out they sit.

Usually called ET, but IS by BMW. It should be stamped on the wheels, usually on the back but sometimes on the front.

Once you know that just put the details in here:- https://www.willtheyfit.com/

Went and had a look at the 17inch wheels this afternoon, looked in good condition the outer sides having been refurbed by the seller. Spray painted in a dark grey with a small amount of silver flake added in that is just desernable in the sunlight. Came with M centre caps to match the small M emblems in the wheels but may go black carbon look as the blue BMW centre caps don't look right. They are Comadora make and 7 and 7.5J so will be running a staggered set up when I get tyres put on. Will see how they look but may go down the spacer route if they need to come out a bit.

I know you are on 16" now, so 17" is an improvement BUT why not go for 18s? I would at least check out the price difference between the two.

I will see how the 17's look and perform, maybe go 18 in the future, as to the M caps, going to put black carbon caps on, bonnet badge needs replacement as well so may well change them all. :driving:

New rubber fitted to the 17 inch wheels today and put them on the car, looks ok and drives fine, just waiting for the black centre caps to arrive, will be ditching the M caps.

As you note " it looks ok " :( a size up from 16s is a step forward but not sure black centres will add anything  stock Bmw ones would be better imo :?
