Wheel centre caps

Bought 4 wheel centre caps yesterday. Came individually wrapped in cloth bags. Made in ... Germany. And so they should be for £65.

That would double the value of one of the cars on my drive

Proper high roller status

The Germans have injection moulding machines aswell, you know. :D

Reminds me of that joke....

"have you got a petrol cap for a 2003 Z4"?
"sounds like a fair swap".

:D :D

Flash git!

I buy Ebays finest for about £6 a set. I can see 10 sets outlasting your German ones.

Yep, you're right. It was just that, having spent over a grand on a service, tyres and wheel alignment, I thought, 'What the Hell. Let's see if there is any difference.'

Hmmmm... £69 (in a nice box) from BMW Aberdeen for x 4 'floating' wheel centres + £90 for a new bonnet & boot 'anniversary' badges from BMW Carlisle :w00t:

Fortunately, things I'd rather not have.
That said, as I was leaving the garage yesterday, I saw the box my new wheel centre caps had come in and, thinking he'd forgotten, I asked the mech to put them on.
He already had and I hadn't noticed.

Worth every penny :D

Floating caps rock -- take in the "at rest" alignment of roundels.
You'll have to stand by your car, telling passers-by to notice.

The car, however, is beautiful. A superb combination of colours.

You can say that again!

It's just for me and the few pictures I take of it. Having them all lined up won't make anyone else think it's special because it looks right—there's nothing to grab attention. But being upside down or otherwise is a twist in the fabric of the universe.

Your old caps were worn because syntropy was trying to set them right, wearing them down due to thermodynamic friction.

Yes, I have just bought some from Cotswold and Hereford to fit onto my newly refurbished E89 wheels. I bought cheap ones from ebay for my E39 last year and they need replacing after only nine months so I reasoned it was better to buy decent ones; I hope they last a few years

I wonder if the spinning caps stay cooler or more isolated from the heat.
Cheap tin plate corrode come first winter. I tried lacquering one set.
Second set of plastic i have are fading tarnishing due to the heat.

That's part of it. The rest is syntopy wanting the BMW roundel to be in the correct orientation. The syntropic friction creates a thermodynamic impact to the fixed tin caps. BMW designed the floating caps to deal with this wear coefficient. It's ultimate driving engineering.

:poke:

I had the £65 spinneys on my 7 series - sadly the spinning action only worked for about 6 months, then they either gunked up or otherwise failed.

Still... nice while it lasted :)
