Wheel arch removal

Hi folks

I have been fitting some new rear speakers and have taken the time to fit some sound deadening. While putting the rear trim back in place I managed to drop a screw down by the roof mechanism near by the door .

Stupid I know but the screw hole is very slightly obscured by one of the rubbers that meets the door and with large clumsy hand was knocked over to fall below. Can anyone suggest how I could retreving this?

I need to gain access under roof behind where the door meets the body, on the passenger side of the inner of the wheel arch

Please any assitance would be much appreciated?

can't help myself, but have you checked realoem.com ? might help see how it fits together..

If you can see it with a torch then use a flexi-magnet? Do you really need to retrieve it, is it causing a rattle?

Thanks for the replies, I haven't moved the car as I didn't want to disturb the screws location, and yes I am worried that it will rattle. I now think that I should be able to reach that area by removing the carpets from the boot. See this post on bimmerfest

This will also allow me to add some sound deadening to the wheel arches, as an aside I can def. recommend adding some to the doors it made a huge difference to road noise and the quality of the door shutting (if you know what I mean ).

If you have dropped the screw in where the roof is, you will not be able to access via the boot, the post you refer to is to gain access to the CD changer connectors in the centre of the rear bulkhead. If you think about it the roof areas is self contained as it need to be waterproof. Your only option really is to use a magnetic screwdriver with telescopic shaft or similar.
