Hi,

New Tyres, Refurb 108.

Alignment at Kingsway in Peterborough, nice people 30 mins £23 :) and right near my house so £0 fuel cost.

Right, they had a 4 point laser machine, on the 4 poster etc.

No Camber though, anything to concern myself over, or for 5k driving a year, and nothing hairy, nothing to worry about?

An independent was going to charge me £75, 1 hours work, plus it would have cost me £30 to get there.

Thanks,

Steve

Well I hope it turns out OK.

Few places can correctly align a Zed 4, even just the front toe in

It requires a specialist machine, and correct ballasting - 65kg in each front seat, 15kg in the boot and a full tank of fuel. Without the settings will be way out and could cost you the new set of tyres just fitted ove the course of a few thousand miles.

How have the refurbed 108's turend out?

Really? Well, i've still got my car booked in at Benstens for a Wheel Alignment, so might still have that done.

Is it really worth doing that? Why so much trouble?

The Chrome Black looks sick! Wheel Genie did a great job im just trying to get a decent photo of them, with a good camera and will put them on here. I drove up to the car and couldn't stop grinning and my mate commented they were evil looking lol.

They split the rims, polished the rim nuts black on inside, silver on rim and shadow effect in middle :)

They also painted the calipers and hubs black, which looks really good as well, so dark and brooding :)

With the Carbon Badges all over the car, including the wheel centres, it looks pretty good.

Will see if i can post some basic pics on here, but have to get a better camera tbh, because it doesnt show them up too well.

Thanks for asking too.

Look forward to the pictures - but it sounds really good

The settings I quote direct from the BMW TIS manual. I also have 2 good friends a wheel refurbisher and specialist tyre supplier and fitter. Neither will touch alignment on a Zed 4 but do all other makes and most models without question on their standard laser set ups. Both directed me to specialists places, which turned out to be Hunter equiped shops.

Take a look at alignmycar.co.uk and you'll find one in Peterborough and a discount voucher on the site.

Just Posted Pic, not the best, but you get the picture :) Will post more when weather better all round car, once it's polished with a decent camera

I just had my coupe done on a Hunter machine for £70 (found via alignmycar.co.uk) as I just wanted to get it checked out after hitting a pothole pretty badly.

Not sure whether they did the ballast though - forgot to ask.

I'll scan and post up the results if it's any good to anyone - not sure that it would be - but shows the tolerances on all settings.

Thanks,

I will ask the place what they will do that is any different to the Kingsways Alignment centre, if not then i will ask the independent, if no different will stick with what i have :) My mate worked for a tuscan racing team and didn't think i would need a weighted car, camber settings etc, for what i do, thought it was overkill, so will see what these guys say and if it doesnt add up...job done.

Sure - the process I quoted is taken from BMW's manual and is how they set them up Hunter equiped shops just happen to have all the setting on thier systems software and replicate BMW. How other cars are set up is irrellevant. Mine was set up by one of the countries leading Lotus race prep companies and made a hash of it unti I had it corrected.

On the other side I'd say 75% of Zed owners have never even knowingly had the tracking set up.

The wheels look really good, in fact very close the trend I seem to have started with the 108's

Very nice - Any more pics of your black calipers? i was thinking of painting mine with some black hammerite, and the slightly rusty rear hubs and disk guard silver.

On my previous cars after i have lowered them i have taken them to the "Wheel Alignment Center" in old basford Nottingham - do a full geometry - although no idea if they can correctly allign a Z4 - did a spot on job in my Celica and S2K.
