I had the zed aligned last week to factory spec on eibachs and it's tramlining a bit, any experts on here able to advise what to tweak?
front toe +0.06' each side
camber -1.16'
caster 5.16'
rear toe +0.07' each side
camber -2.5'
back in on Friday to get tweaked and was thinking just bringing camber down on the rear, but not sure that'll actually change the tramlining?

Go for Z4M settings as a start and see how it feels :)
yeah let's change everything and see that it feels different indeed :headbang: an Coupe VS an M have different specs FOR A REASON.
i'm not saying that factory specs are the best, but your advise is making no sense this way.

I’ve replaced a lot of front suspension components and I am gonna have a total wheel alignment done. I’ve currently got 17x7.5 ET45s all round, with 225 rubber - these are my winter tyres. I’ve just received my new summer tyres, which are 18x8 ET40 with 225/40 on the front and 18x9 ET40 255/35 on the rear.

Does it make much difference which wheels I have the alignment done with?
not much, but BMW does spec different wheel sizes different. go for "summer tyre specs" would be my advise as you'll probably drive your car more on the limit in summer then in winter.

when changing from winter to summer tyres it's always good excercise to check thread depth along the tyre to see where the tyre wears the most. (inside/middle/outside). with that info you might want to change some alignment

Ok so I had it tweaked today
0deg02' front toe
-1.2 front camber
0deg11' rear toe
-2.1 rear camber (as far as they could take it apparently, maybe to do with the Eibachs)
Drives great now, didn't take it out in anger, just the 15 mile b Road commute. But feels much more planted compared to normal!

Hi Phil,
Bit of a favour, my recently acquired Z4 roadster tramlines as a result of the previous owner fitting the Eibach springs. He didn't have the cars alignment done and need to get mine done. could you post your tweaked full geo set up for me to follow? This is me assuming the roadster and coupe wont be dramatically different... do step in if I'm being a pleb anyone.
cheers!

Not at all, this is the complete set up though, they can only adjust toe and camber. Front camber can also only be adjusted if the pins are pulled I think (I'm no expert on this, but most places claim it can't be adjusted)
Caster can't be adjusted
My car is back on msport springs though as I do so many miles on it, too many scrapes from speedbumps/rural driveways!

Castor can be 'adjusted' by fitting the Z4M lower front control arm bush, it's offset compared to standard. Otherwise, yes you can't formally adjust it. A worthwhile mod if you have a non-M.

Does this increase or decrease castor? What is ge impact on the steering? Increased castor increases the self centering and slows the steering a little doesn’t it?

Increases castor which gives a bit more negative camber when cornering. I didn't notice much difference in steering weight but the increase in mid-corner grip was obvious.
