Wheel advice: CSL reps

Hi all (and in particular Mr Wilks),

I’m after some advice. I’m bored of my MV2 alloys and think the coupe looks great on 19” CSL style wheels. A bit boring but tried and tested, and it's rare that I see another zed, let alone a coupe on csl wheels.

I’m near BMAutosport and like the look of either Atomic CSLs or Riva DTMs. Any potential issues with rubbing on standard suspension? Are these offsets fine on the z4?

Atomic CSL
http://www.bmautosport.co.uk/showroom/product_info.php/new-atomic-csl-alloys-hyper-silver-with-very-deep-concave-et27-rear-p-3613
Fronts: 8.5” et 38
Rears: 9.5" et 27

Riva DTM
http://www.bmautosport.co.uk/showroom/product_info.php/new-riva-dtm-csl-alloy-wheels-silver-deep-concave-wide-rear-p-422

Fronts: 8” et 34
Rears: 9” et 37

For the Riva DTMs I was recommended the following tyre sizes: 225/35/19 on the fronts and 255/35/19 on the rears. Are they the best sizes or should I go for 235 fronts and 265 rears? It will be Michelin ps4 tyres that go on.

Thanks, and sorry for the basic questions. Will put photos up once on the car

I would choose the Riva but don't fit 235 35 tyres to the front , go 225 & if lowered & you do get a slight rub ( which you most likely won't ) then 215 35 will cure it , rear 255 35 19 is the tyre size i would go for , its a 9j width so no wider needed
Idej jedi & many others run the same sets with those offsets

Thanks Mr Wilks, good to know about the tyre sizes. Out of interest, why would you go for the Riva? Is that down to the offsets giving a better look or just the style?

Thanks

I think both are perfectly fine from a quality perspective , though the rear 9.5j et 27 offset on the atomics is on the max from a offset / width point on non ///Ms (imagine your rear Mv2 with a 32mm spacer behind  )
So that would prompt a 30 profile tyre as its quite aggressive on non ///Ms & i would always want a 35 profile plus i prefer the 8j 9j set up on E85 E86 which is not always possible with aftermarket wheels

Perfect explanation, thanks. That's exactly the info that I needed, you've just made my decision

Riva DTMs here I come :driving:

Riva DTMs fitted by BMAutosport this morning. Nice day for a trip to Eastbourne :driving:

Thanks again Mr Wilks for the tyre advice, I went with 255/35 on the rears and they fit the arch really well.

Ok the CSL wheel isn't breaking new ground but they never fail to look anything but knockout especially on a E86  looks great

How are you finding the ride moving from the 18” mv2 to these 19s ?

Surprised to say the ride is no harsher on the 19s.

Not sure if moving to Michelin ps4 tyres helped me there, but I'm very pleased with the tyres. They've given me a lot more confidence in the handling.

I've certainly got no regrets, the wheels fill the arch nicely with no rubbing/crashing/ride issues.

Stunning 👍

Hoping to get a set of 19 Riva DTM on my E86 in the Spring. Are those Hyper Silver? Still loving the ride...any issues?

@Thierry
Amazing and classical look. Fresh even today. I am ordering the same set of RIVA DTMs, but with 235/35 and 265/30 as I got the impression of 255/35 18" on my previous 224s were a bit stretched.

Tyre sizes for the Z4M style 224 wheels are 225 or 235/45/18 on 8 inch front rim, and 255/40 18 on 9 inch rear. Perfect fitment and no stretch. We are running 255/35 on 9.5 inch rims, no stretch at all, and 255/40 on a set of 10 rims, no stretch.

Looking at CSL reps today at BM and wanted to know if anyone has any input as to which of these between a rarer fitment of atomic’s or the Riva Dtm.. is there a better looking wheel in terms of finish etc? The atomics look brighter in colour and have the embossing etc.. slightly different specs but offsets seem to counteract width. Any thoughts? On a m sport suspension E86 coupe in carbon black..

Atomics-

NOW BACK IN STOCK!! (29/5/2020)

Brand new high quality light weight 19" staggered Atomic CSL alloys with deep concave rear finished stunning hyper silver. (SATIN GUNMETAL ALSO AVAILABLE IN OTHER ADS)

Very rare fitment with the et45 rear for a direct fit to the Earlier 3 series cars and Z3/4, even will go on a 1 series.

As you can see in the pics these have the correct spoke profile with even Concave from edge of wheel to centre to give them the best possible look

They are 19" x 8.5" et38 front and 19" x 9.5" et45 Deep centre rear

OR

Brand new 19" staggered Riva DTM CSL alloys with deep concave rear finished in silver.

These must be seen as look stunning.

They are 19" x 8" et34 front and 19" x 9" et37 Deep concave rear.

Any info is highly appreciated. Want to run a 35 tire on back to help with ride and filling arch on standard suspension..

I honestly thought that was my old coupe!!

The reg was close!..Pic taken 7 years ago

Haha I would make the same mistake for sure, almost identical. You didn't once stop me in the street did you... A good few years ago I had a guy jump out in front of me to say he thought I'd stolen his car, near identical reg  I think a few of silver coupes started life as press cars so had similar plates and all had almost every option ticked. Need to get out in mine, has been sat in the garage for too long.

Guys anyone know dimension of OEM center cap to fit to those riva dtms?
or part number

Yep, 68mm. The part number is 36136783536. Definitely worth the small outlay for some new ones when you replace the wheels, makes everything look much fresher.
