why do people always ask what you do for a living?

does this characterise you, why do people not ask more about hobbies or what makes you tick, to most people a job is just a thing that they do to pay bills

i'm a carpenter so i cut wood up then stick it back together :D

Good point, although I guess for some people its work that makes them tick! :D

Well here's one job you can count me out of...

Snapped yesterday outside my local Esporta. 3 guys stood in baskets in driving rain servicing x000's volt pylon cables. The photo understates the rain and height

2. Real Police 15yrs (East London - the real ashes to ashes, "you're nicked you slag", "George Davis is innocent")
3. Play Police (Fraud Squad, City of London, the bijou perfectly formed vatican like jewel wihin Greater London)
4. Deutsche Bank (yep....fraud investigator)

5. BBC (Investigator)

LOL, yet you are still reading this thread. If it makes you feel better why not make your own thread about how to be happy in life?

Personally I find it very interesting what jobs people are in. No, it doesn't define the person but then nobody said it did. A job is something a lot of us spend a lot of our life doing and so can be an interesting talking point... Some people Even LIKE their jobs :)

Nope. That's just a different question. Start a thread if you want to ask that one. You can't tell the op what questions to ask. Sorry mate,...this isn't North Kotea... In any case it can't be that boring looking at the number of views and replies. I'm finding it quite interesting what people are doing most of which seem more exciting than my office based lot in life !
