What's your best ever miles to empty

Just thought this could be a bit of fun - was driving home very late last week and needed to refuel. Drove very slowly to my 'favourite' filling station and filled up to the top. Got back into the car and couldn't believe the indicated miles to empty on the screen - this is from a 35i! Normally I get 280 at best.

What's yours? :)

SO8 you've still got your car right? Sorry just thought it sounded like you've sold it! Hope all good with your car

With my usual commute I struggle to get over 250 but after a work jaunt to Warwickshire I've done 300 with apparently 109 miles remaining...

Fuel tank is 55 litres. I get about 400/410 miles per tank at the moment.

A welcome break from the 200 or so I was getting before in my Audi! A1GGS, what A8 do you have?

Hi, I've got a 2011 A8 3.0 TDi quattro. Short wheelbase, 248bhp / 8 speed auto. It's a fab thing, surprisingly rapid and easily does 45mpg on a run and about 38 running around locally. Not bad for a big barge.

Posted before but worth posting again, this was my 2010 3.0l e89

Not that great but wasn't trying and daily commute mostly.

Only 2.0 though! Driven a bit hard

I got 435 on my way back from silverstone in mines. I especially love playing the magic fuel game where you fill up and say 100 miles down the road it says you've got more miles left than when you filled up. If I'm being good (not often) I can leave my place and drive to my parents and the miles left will show a little more or the same as when I left

My wife has an A4 with a 3.0 TDi and if getting rid of our cars was ever necessary - it would be the car I would keep!
There are many who say they don't like them but I think they are a tremendous all round car. They just do all things well with economy. It will be a hard act to follow .

Anyone else notice that on the e89, the first half of the tank is a lot bigger than the second half?

On mine I regularly manage 200 ish miles from a full tank to half full, then only about 50 more before I get the fuel light at 1/4 full.

Bit weird.

Matt

I had 378 miles to empty on my old V8 M3 once which surprised me as normally it used to show around 280 miles...obviously it never achieved the 378 miles because you only had to touch the throttle and the petrol disappeared like a rocket.

1/2 a cake is 1/2 of it - I know what you mean tho! :D

Just filled my 35is up today. 215 miles is the readout.

Mind you my commute is 7 twisty miles each way over wooded hills and I've got a heavy foot in sport mode. Love it every day :-)

I've never looked at this reading on all of the 3 89's I've owned. I keep that setting on mpg.

Don't really see the point, as a lot of the above posts confirm :D
