What's wrong with these footballers?

We seem to have judged this guy Guilty already based on 2 or 3 paragraphs from our highly respected and totally honest press.

A bit of sweeping generalisation here.......it's rather sad that anyone has been injured or killed as a result of an RTC......but based on that article alone (and I'm sure a Google would reveal the actual car in question) there's no mention of driving recklessly or anything close to it, or that it was a high powered sports car (as said above not all MB's arer powerful......I know I once hired an A140 - it was had almost no power).
That said, there has been an arrest which doesn't sound but it's a little prejudged as guilty of speeding/poor driving et al......I'm not saying that's not the case as the likelihood is that it is sadly, based on previous incidents.....I'm sure we weren't all driving angels in our teens..........and unfortunately mistakes and/or being a little foolish does happen

Ok, i'll change that statement to "i've only ever read one story about a footballist doing something worthwhile."
I don't read gossip mags, tabloids or the sport section of any paper for that matter so I'm not exposed to most negative stories. I'd pretty much turn the page if I seen the word footballer as I'm just not interested in the game or the people that play it.
The story you have linked is very encouraging, definitely a worthwhile effort. I've always wondered why it's not written into most footballers contracts that they have to spend a certain amount of time with kids at local schools coaching or at least promoting sport in some way. It might do the national game some good in the future.

i think you'll find most of the arsenal squad regularly visit great ormond street hospital and donate huge sums of money, anonymously.
i support west ham united and in their local paper there is always stories of them walking round hospitals/special needs places etc.

I was going to write a big reply explaining the difference between a sweeping statement and me stating my peronal experience and how it is impossible for anyone to say whether my experience is true or not since they are not me.

Either way they are in the public spotlight which means they should be setting a better example for those that are going to look up to them. By failing to do that they let themselves and their sport down and that is shameful and selfish.
