Whats with the 'hang a smurf'?

Hi all -noticed an increasing number of cars with a smurf hanging under the rear bumper-why is this?-or is it just my neck of the woods?

Kids will be kids personally i carnt see any harm in it , plus on those long journeys could make a interesting game ( sport the toys hanging from toe hooks) Try it on the way to work tomorrow!

something to do with drifting i believe... the angle of the smurf swinging :slaphead:

Saw an old MX5 this morning with a loud exhaust and something hanging below the bumper, wondered what on earth it was at first. Now I realise it must have been a smurf.

Those crazy cats.

Different reason, but there was a big craze in the Jeep community to hang these on the back.
