Glad to have read this, I too spent a good few minutes trying to work out how to open it before giving up.

Just a question though, how the hell do they expect you to push that whilst pulling something else in the boot?
 
The cord in the boot does the same thing. It is puzzling why there are two options to do the same operation. Perhaps its a fail safe thing.
 
The cord has no effect on that top button, it only unlocks the pull down flap. You can see from pet's pictures that the lever is fully independent of anything else. Later facelift models don't have either the cord or the lever under the button.

All cars have the release catch tho as it It's the manual release for the roof should the motor fail- you press this and pull the release cord in the boot. There is a Allen key tool to secure roof in the toolkit. Hopefully you will never need it!

Nice to know what it is for, but if Taz or I ever need it something has gone seriously wrong seeing as we have Coupes! :D

Tax also has a roadster.
