What's this red knob?

Picked up my Z few weeks ago, still haven't found what this red button does by the handbrake. Doesn't appear to do anything or change anything when pressed/held etc.

Any ideas before I go dismantling the center console?!

Had something similar on a fleet car we had in before. I think it was either linked to hands free or a tracker. But it's not standard that's for sure.

Not sure but pulling out the gear surround takes about 5 seconds.

I like to think it might be NOS :)

It's a Bullshit Button of course!

Every car should have one imo. Thinking about installing one myself. 8)

Activate when :
  • finding yourself in a traffic jam,
  • being pulled over by the feds unecessarily,
  • being pulled over by the feds necessarily
  • birdshit strike just after you spent hours washing and waxing it,
  • a prang that you can see coming a mile away in any supermarket carpark,
  • mother-in-law farting/sneezing/breathing-out in your p&j while picking her up for Sunday lunch,
  • niece/nephew/sprog/other small child having a bodily evacuation in your p&j
  • EML light coming on just before setting off on a European tour

Its an idiot button, put there to see how many times someone will keep pressing it, and then post a question on a forum asking what it does :rofl:
 
Probably for a garage door remote?

anything hidden behind the lower grill / kidneys? Could be a jammer, if it is I’d move it :wink:
