What's this please?

Hi everyone,
Topped up the screen wash on the Coupe today and noticed this bracket with the 2 studs. Curiosity has the better of me and I wonder if someone can tell me it's purpose.
Do I have something missing?

This has come up a few times and it's something that is for the "M" version

I think it's for an emissions air pump on the American models?

Thanks guys, I figured as the studs still had original paint on them , the chances of something missing was pretty slim.

As stated, on the ///M cars there is a plastic cannister of some sort fitted, not sure what it is though.
