any ideas what it is?

Yep, Bond Equippe, later to be bought out by Reliant, the car is fibreglass built on a Triumph Herald/Vitesse chassis, this is an early car with the Herald 4 cylinder engine, the later ones had the Vitesse 6 cylinder engine, sounded great but piss poor brakes and not that fast.

Bizarrely when I lived in Devon the guy at the bottom of garden (down the hill that is ) had one in his garage not run for years maybe decades
and was the 19xx Motor show car which he bought from the show .......it is probably still in the garage ...........

Unfortunately now in west Sussex ,a strange chap, was a Master Mariner and used to deliver private yachts around the world but was almost crippled by foot problems
You are right about the rarity

There were loads of companies building fibreglass cars in the late 50s and early 60s usually based on the Triumph Chassis, Reliant lasting longer than most, TVR, Marcos,Gilbern used there own chassis and of course Lotus who managed to build a fibreglass monococ called the Elite and then the Elan with a backbone chassis.
Bonds first attempt was not a good looker but their last, the 2ltr Equippe was not bad but if i remember was more expensive than a Cortina GT so doomed from the start.
Not many about today and not worth a lot of money, dont know about the show car depends on condition, easy to repair though.

Looks better than your coupe Taz
