What's this button for?

On that side on the console, it would be the passenger airbag deactivation switch...

I think...

on the other side, it is the Sport button :driving:
 
I don't believe that's an actual button,I have it and I am sure it is just an indicator to show if you have turned the passenger airbag off or not,the actual de-activation is done from the left side of the dashboard (I can actually see it in that photo by the left of the air vent).
 
Thats correct.
It is an indicator for the airbag- not a button.

As navid.v says, you activate / deactivate the airbag with your ignition key by turning it in the lock that is located on the passenger side of the dashboard (hidden when door is closed)

Airbag deactivation was standard from about 57 plate onward. Prior to that it was an option, quite cheap at £60 but rarely specified.

I didnt know this was standard.. my car has this listed in the invoice that the previous owner put this in as an optional extra :?
