Z4mo - where abouts u getting ur insp 2 done? just had mine done along with eibachs on CDV sorting and alignment. Wasn't cheap. But got peace of mind that all's good now.

I know Whixley, we knew friends that used to own the school house.

Peter van der veer
Bmw specialist
1 mount road
Marsden

£500 all in for insp 2
I asked him about cdv delete and he wasn't keen on doing it but can't remember his reasoning
Hope this helps

How did the service go at Peter's Mo? Would you use him again?

I've used Peter since buying the car in Sept 2013, nice guy making his living from his love of all things BMW.
He is an ex BMW technician (IMI master tech)
My car is not a daily driver in anyway so when it goes in it can be there a week or more so I'm not sure how he is with timely repair as I've never rushed him on anything other than that I am very happy with the service provided.
I wouldn't be the best judge of a great mechanic. Pete has done all the work on my car and I have no complaints.
My friend just had Peter do his e70 timing chain and he felt he could have done it quicker having had the car 5 days.

£500 is a great price!

I paid more but had other work done too which may have been outside the Insp 2. I will upload the invoice shortly

They were trying to explain something about how it wears and I didn't really understand but that a car can have even wear and doesn't need adjustment but if there is an extreme of wear in any one cylinder then there is an issue ?
I could get an explanation from the technician who did the car he is very experienced if you are interested in what he has to say about it ? may help others

in any event, problem or not they needed to change those two..... to get them back in spec thats the hole point to of measuring them and having the tolerance range, i understand your not mechanically understanding this, but they needed doing. he should not have left them like that, i have no idea why a master tech would see those out of spec and not change the shim which is what he was supposed to do, otherwise he may as well not bothered to measure.

drop redish motorsport a line and ask them to look at your shim report...... ask them which shims they would have changed and why.
