Hi All
Its been a while since I posted on here.
Thought I would wind up my fellow Z4 friends :D
My Z4 is currently secured in a container and set sail from Southampton yesterday.
Its en route to Perth Australia where I emigrated last week.
Currently 31oC and Autumn!
Believe I have found the right home for my Z
Distance its travelling 9007.5 miles!
Cant wait for it to arrive 2nd May and look forward to taking it for its 1st coastal drive :driving:
Once I have it in my possession I will post some nice pics for you guys.
I feel lost without my toy! But in Perth the Z4 is rare as hen's teeth so looking forward to the exclusive driving 8)
Too many Fords and Holdens lol.

blimey, good job your not driving it there. :D

i went from liverpool to cuxhaven in germany using the tunnel. i think just shy of 800 miles

Longest single trip was Liverpool to Barcelona (well, about 20 miles north of Barcelona) - about 1250 miles in less than 24 hours (with stops every 3-4 hours).

Did a track day at Circuit de Catalunya, then went up into the Pyrenees for a week and drove home via Frankfurt where I was working.

Total trip was close to 3,000 miles in about 10 days.

Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps to Saltash in Cornwall. 875 km according to Google.

Alas I had to put the roof up for most of it as it was pis##ng down. :(

blimey how much was the shipping? and do you have to pay import tax? i know cars are more expensive over there how much do you save? just curious

The current value of the car in Oz accordingly to my broker is in the region of $31k so approx £21.4k in sterling!
Current value of my Z4 with 41k on the clock £6.5k approx.
The shipping was £1.2k but on the other side of the pond you have to pay import taxes, deep clean, re reg it etc.
Total cost will come in at approx £5-6k
So still a profit to be made if I decide to sell it which I wont as going to always be in the car collection :driving:
I'm looking forward to the day its legal and ready to go over here so me and the mrs can hit the coastal roads 8)
Need to find some fellow Z4 Aussies in Perth now if there are any who are enthusiasts?

600 miles from Lossiemouth to London to drive my M home after buying it from steve220 on here
I stopped over near Newcastle tho :)

Paris to Birmingham in one trip, that was 410 miles (stopped in Lille on the way to Paris)

Zurich to Birmingham - took about 15 hours inclusive of ferry

When I arrived home I was so tired I left the key in the ignition and the door open. Thankfully the Z was still there the following morning, although the satnav had drained the battery

Would I do such a long trip again - No!

Approx 4,551 miles give or take a few thousand as that's based on air travel and not by sea which was how my Z4 was shipped to here from the U.S.

The farthest I've driven it however is 1,541 miles. Las Vegas, Nv to Lake Charles, La.

Wow at least all those miles wont show on the clock!

yeah but he does it in 2nd at 6K rpm, thats why he only has a 4cl now :D

we did the drive to germany in one go toilet stops only as it was the middle of the night, heavy rain such that you couldnt see the road markings and the lights appeared useless.

not again without more stops but we were on a tight time scale. due to work commitments her indoors did a night shift came home at 9 one friday had a shower and we left for the 4pm tunnel. tunnel was late so it pushed us back and then one long slog up to cuxhaven. then we did it all on the monday to come back.

Not a fair comparison in the miles driven category, as it's easy to rack up miles here in the western US, but last Summer we put in 3900 miles in a single multi-day trip from our home in Wyoming out to California and back. :driving: The best part is we sniffed out some incredible twisty mountain roads, and probably 2400 of those miles was with the top down!

Montrouge in France to Port Charlotte on Islay, 850 miles. And back (including a night in... Blackpool... yes, seriously...).

The above in a day and a half in August last year - fantastic roads up there and the sun even decided to make an appearance (how jolly nice of it!) :D

640 odd miles I think, maybe a bit more. Roof down for a fair chunk of it.

Cheers

Morry
