I bought a pair of the second ones and fitted them today...well the rear was simple but the fron already has a sort of holder and I couldn't figure it out! Will check it outin the daylight

Looks better fitted than up close, actually might just do the rear...try for a pic in the morning if you want to see howit looks?

Didn't like the idea, then thought about it... New un-drilled plates stuck on with 3M tape will give it a nice clean look with no screws, and your car's black so it won't stand out, so I say yes

Can you take the standard OEM plat holder off the front and replace it with this ? If you can then get the plate to stick bent (think someone on here used heat to do that) it should make the front of the car look much nicer 8)

In some ways I'm tempted to remove the front plate altogether and run the risk.

But I think they finish off the rear plate.

I don't prefer surrounds per se, but rather stylish looking protectors. Nothing looks worse than a ratty, stone chipped number plate! I'm actually in the process of replacing my (ratty, stone chipped) plates (in that condition from being on my previous car) with nice new ones and shopping around for nice looking protectors. It's surprising how expensive they are!

No risk in the 6 months I ran without one :o But your mileage may vary (standard disclaimer) :D

Cannot be bothered about any plate surrounds. Will it make me faster? If it does then i may consider it.

I think they suit the look of some cars, I'm a keen dubber so have some seen some retro dubs with them on and I think they suit them fine, not sure about on my Z4 though...each to their own I guess.

It will if they have an M badge on them :P

Write me down for 4 then, 2 to replace the existing ones and one for each side of the car. I'll stick them on the sideskirts.

mine came with them on . not upsetting me so left them
now standard plates with the owners name along the bottom ? NO NO on any level

I thought they looked pretty cool. You can get surround holders and locking guards.

Only on the back - look naff on the front IMO. I went for the smallest surrounds available, just on the rear though:

Where did you get the plate surround from? Can't find that style, even on ebay
Ah, it was via ebay but was a good while ago now. Kept the plate surround/plate and now lives on my 3 series :)

I much prefer this style over the full surround... time to break out some google imaging...
